The Southeastern Greyhound Club is pleased to report that it will again host four weekends of lure coursing sport at three different venues for the 2011-2012 season. All the meetings will include features that put the dogs and safety first and foremost -- drag lure on big, safe fields in beautiful countryside venues, long galloping course plans that test all the coursing skills, running in braces and only during that time of year when running conditions are most likely to be optimum. For the people, there's the head-to-head competitive excitement and judging objectivity that only the brace elimination format can offer, cash prizes for 1st placements, rosettes for all placements, prizes for the dogs for all placements, established perpetual trophies for each trial, and the amenities that have always been a mainstay of SEGC lure coursing. Lurchers and longdogs are always eligible to compete in the regular stakes. The club's season kicks off with the 6th running of the ASFA National Greyhound Specialty on Saturday, October 22. This year the national event will be held at its third Georgia venue, Chattahoochee Hills / Bouckaert Farm near Fairburn, Georgia just south of Atlanta. The beauty of this 8000 acre equestrian estate along 12 miles of the Chattahoochee River in Fulton County has to be seen to be believed -- the lure coursing field is almost 2 miles into the interior of the property ! This meeting is a must-enter for those Greyhound folks who want to test their dogs' mettle on the field instead of on paper and run against the best. More information and the premium list can be found at www.asfagreyhoundspecialty.com and on the Specialty's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ASFANationalGreyhoundSpecialty The day after the National Specialty, October 23, will feature the 15th running of the Fullerton Cup for all sighthound breeds, lurchers and longdogs. Sanctioned by the National Lure Coursing Club, this meeting is named for the greatest Greyhound who ever coursed and honors the coursing traditions on which lure coursing is based. Also held at Bouckaert Farm, the Fullerton Cup promises an outstanding entry of Greyhounds who have come to Georgia for the Specialty, as well as a talented array of other sighthound breeds whose owners want to "experience the difference" of drag lure and NLCC brace elimination lure coursing. Event programs can be found in the Documents section of this site, the SEGC Web site at www.greyhoundadoption.org and at www.asfagreyhoundspecialty.com December 17 and 18 will be the 3rd running of the Christmas Cup, this year at Bear Creek Farm near Moreland, Georgia. On Saturday December 17, SEGC will unveil its newest perpetual trophy, the Alicia Hartman Norwood Memorial Trophy, named in memory and honor of a great friend of the SEGC program. (Trophy donations are still being accepted for this trophy via Paypal at "

January 21 - 22, 2012 will be the 16th running of the Old Mill Stakes, named for and held at SEGC's original lure coursing home, Old Mill Farm in Cartersville, Georgia. The Old Mill Cup perpetual trophy will be run for on Sunday by all breed winners from both days of the meeting. March 24 - 25, 2012 will be the 16th annual Run For Rescue on Saturday and 15th running of the Southern Turf Classic on Sunday, back at Bouckaert Farm near Fairburn. The perpetual Rescue Trophy and Lucy-Foxey Cup will be offered for overall winners of those respective trials. Programs for all trials will be posted as they become available to the Documents srction of this site and at www.greyhoundadoption.org , and additional information, results and photos can be found on the NLCC Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NationalLureCoursingClub |
